We were really floundering on a lathe project with several attempts to make good parts coming up short when Troy walked in the door. He quickly assessed the situation, overnighted in a few tools, and came back the next day to set up and program the job for us.

 

By early afternoon, the machine was humming and parts were flying off, under our target cycletime and right in the middle of the tolerance band! I was worried that we’d need to get more inserts on order, because we were moving so fast, but Troy said not to worry about it. We ran two shifts all week and, making nearly 2,000 parts on one edge of every tool! I couldn’t believe it. We’ve never removed so much material with so little consumable cost.
